Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi and meet the ITS representative at the arrival hall
and transfer to hotel. Relax & overnight in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi
Morning tour of Old Delhi: visit the majestic Red Fort, the historical
Chandni Chowk, besides Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana. Afternoon tour
of New Delhi, visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the one-time imperial
residence of the British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised
in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war;
the Laxmi Narayan Temple, built by the Birlas, one of Indias
leading industrial families; Qutab Minar, built by Qutub-ud-din
Aibek of the Slave Dynasty; and the lotus-shaped Bahai Temple. Evening
free at leisure, overnight in Delhi.
Day 3: Delhi - Gwalior (By train)
After breakfast depart by Shatabdi Express for Gwalior - the pearl
of Hindustan. Assistance on arrival transfer to hotel. Later take
a sight seeing tour visiting the imposing and magnificent Gwalior
Fort made of sandstone, visit Man Mandir a six-towered palace. In
the afternoon visit the enormous, 19th century Jai Vilas Palace.
This Palace is famous for its ornate chandeliers & crystal.
Also visit the, Gujari Mahal, the Tomb of Muhammad Ghaus, a saint
worshipped by the Mughals & the Tomb of the famous musician
Tansen. Overnight in Gwalior.
Day 4: Gwalior - Agra (110 km - 2 hours)
In the morning, take the road towards Agra, the old imperial capital
of India. It has some superb monuments dating from that era. Afternoon,
visit the historical Red Fort where lived three Mughals Emperors.
Each one left there its print, sandstone red of Akbar and Jehangir,
white marble of Jahan Shah. This fort rises on the edges of Yamuna;
it is surrounded by wall 20 meters high and 2500 m in perimeter.
Overnight in Agra.
Day 5: Agra
In the morning visit the world famous Taj Mahal, whose eternal beauty
will astonish and mesmerize the visitors. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan
built Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who
died in 1631. Thereafter visit the Visit the beautiful mausoleum
of the tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daula, the first monument in India to feature
Persian mosaic style inlay work or "Pietra Dura" Greatly
resembling the Taj in its use of inlay on white marble, and is known
as the "mini-Taj". Evening free to visit the handicraft
market of Agra. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Agra - Fatehpur - Sikri - Jaipur (230 kms - 5 hours)
In the morning we begin our Journey to the princely state of Rajasthan.
Enroute visit of Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city built by Akbar,
his capital for 14 years. Thereafter proceed for the ornithological
reserve of Keoladeo Ghana, the sanctuary of the birds, and paradise
of the ornithologists. Walk in rickshaws in the reserve. Thereafter
we continue our journey to Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan also
called the Pink City. Steeped in history and culture, this city
is known for its magnificent Palaces and forts; broad avenues and
spacious gardens. Jaipur with its romantic charm takes you to an
epoch of royalty and tradition., Arrive and proceed to the Hotel.
Evening a panoramic city tour of JAIPUR. Thereafter have a joyful
rickshaw ride in this quaint city. Overnight.
Day 7: Jaipur
Morning excursion to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the Rajput
Empire rulers, perched atop the hill overlooking the lake. Ascend
to this hilltop fort in Maharajah style
by decorated Elephant.
Visit the beautiful complex of palaces including inlaid mirror palace,
halls, pavilions, gardens and the famous Kali temple. In the Afternoon,
city tour of JAIPUR, visiting the City Palace- the Royal residence
of Maharajah built in Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, Hawa Mahal"
the Palace of Wind & the Observatory of the 18th century. Thereafter,
have a Walk in the bustling bazaars of Jaipur, well known for their
beautiful carpets, enamelled ornaments, precious and semi-precious
stones, brass ornaments and many other arts and crafts. Overnight
at the hotel.
Day 8: Jaipur - Samode (50 kms - 1 hour)
In the morning, drive towards Sanganer known for its blue pottery
and colorful hand made paper. Visit an old Jain Temple there. Then
continuation towards the old caravan city of Samode locked up in
its walls and dominated by the castle. On arrival transfer to Samode
Palace Hotel, later visit the Palace, the Sheesh Mahal- the hall
of mirrors. Late afternoon take camel cart ride to explore the Samode
Fort and the semi desert village of Samode, evening free to relax
at the Palace Hotel, overnight in Samode.
Day 9 : Samode - Mandawa (125 kms - 3 hours)
In the morning we drive to Shekhawati also called the " open
air art gallery of Rajasthan. The region known for its splendid
painted "Havelis" or merchants mansions decorated
with superb mural frescos. Arrive and transfer to the hotel. In
the afternoon visit of the Shekhawati to see different Havelis with
fascinating murals each better than the other, built by the wealthy
Rajasthani merchants ("Marwaris") in the 19th Century.
Early evening one can visit neighboring villages to see Roop Niwas
Palace in Nawalgarh & Dundlod Fort in Dundlod. Enjoy live folk
dance & music in the courtyard of the hotel followed by dinner.
Overnight in Mandawa.
Day 10: Mandawa - Delhi (275 kms - 5 hours)
Morning drive to Delhi, on arrival transfer to hotel, rest of the
day is kept free for last minute souvenir shopping in Delhi. After
farewell dinner checkout and transfer to International airport to
board the flight back home.
